Q: What is Aeroponics?
A: Aeroponics is a dirt-free growing method where plant roots are suspended in air within a 100% humidity, highly-oxygenated growing chamber. Because the roots are bathed with ideal levels of nutrients, water and oxygen, plants grow significantly faster, are healthier and have a higher nutrient content than plants grown in soil.
Q: How big is the AeroGarden?
A: The AeroGarden has the footprint of a breadbox and is sized to fit conveniently under most cabinets. The AeroGarden measures 16" long by 10 1/2" wide by 15 1/2" high when it is first set up with the lights at the lowest possible setting, and 21" high at the highest level. Currently the AeroGarden comes in only one size.

Q: How long will my plants live?
A: Cherry Tomatoes and Chili Peppers will grow for 6 – 7 months, and you will be able to start harvesting in about 10 weeks. That gives you approximately 4 months of continuous harvests.
Salad Greens will grow for 4 – 5 months, and you can begin harvesting after only 3 weeks. This gives you about 3 - 4 months of continuous harvests
Gourmet Herbs, International Basil, International Gourmet series (French, Italian and Japanese) and Cascading Petunias will all grow for 4 – 5 months. You can start harvesting your herbs and basil in about 4 weeks, giving you 3 – 4 months of continuous harvests.
Q: How long can the AeroGarden be left unattended?
What if I travel a lot?
A: A planted AeroGarden can be left unattended for up to 2 weeks, depending on the type of plants you are growing and their maturity. Larger, more mature gardens may need water more frequently.
Q: When can I begin harvesting?
A: It depends on which Seed Kit you have. You can begin harvesting lettuces and basils 3 weeks after planting your garden and then enjoy continuous harvests for months. Other herbs will take about 5 weeks to be ready to begin harvesting. Fruiting plants will take longer to harvest: about 10 - 12 weeks for cherry tomatoes and chili peppers.
Q: Are the nutrient tablets organic?
A: The AeroGarden nutrient tablets are organic, according to current AAPFCO (American Association of Plant Food Control Officials) standards.
Q: Can I mix Seed Kits? A:Mixing seed pods from one Seed Kit with those of another is generally not recommended, because different types of plants have different light, water flow, and nutrient requirements.
Our Seed Kits have been carefully researched and exhaustively tested to determine the optimal requirements for each plant chosen. The specific plants chosen have been combined within each Seed Kit to be compatible with one another not only in their light, water flow and nutrient requirements, but also their growth rate and size. For these reasons, mixing between Seed Kits generally does not work well, although if you are an experienced AeroGardener you can generally combine herbs with herbs, greens with greens, and flowering/fruiting crops with other flowering/fruiting crops (such as tomatoes with peppers), provided you take care to prune them properly to keep them all about the same height.
Some people like to have multiple AeroGardens so that they can have herbs, tomatoes and greens growing at the same time but in different gardens.
Q: How much energy does the AeroGarden use?
A: The AeroGarden system has been designed for maximum efficiency. The entire system uses less energy than a single 60-watt light bulb.
Q: What kind of light bulbs does it use?
A: The AeroGarden uses full-spectrum compact fluorescent bulbs exclusively designed for the optimal amount and type of light needed for robust, healthy plant growth.
