Installing on Linux

Two ways in. Pick the one that matches your distro.

Same application either way — the same invoices, the same local database file, the same offline behaviour as the Windows and Mac builds. The only difference is how it gets onto disk.

Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Pop!_OS

Installs like any other package, puts the app in your applications menu, and updates through the same file next time. Use apt rather than dpkg -i so the GTK libraries it needs are pulled in automatically.

Then launch it from your applications menu, or run daily-invoice-maker-v2 in a terminal.

Fedora, openSUSE, Arch, anything else

A single self-contained file. Nothing is installed system-wide and nothing is written outside your home folder — delete the file and the app is gone.

If it exits with a sandbox or namespace error — common on Ubuntu 24.04 and later, which restricts unprivileged user namespaces — add --appimage-extract-and-run, or use the .deb instead.

What you need to run it

Architecture	64-bit x86 (`x86_64` / `amd64`). There is no 32-bit build and no ARM build — a Raspberry Pi or an ARM Chromebook will not run it.
Distribution	Any current 64-bit desktop Linux. The binaries need glibc 2.25 or newer, which covers Debian 10, Ubuntu 18.04, and Fedora 28 onward. Built and tested on Ubuntu 26.04.
Desktop	A graphical desktop with GTK 3 — GNOME, KDE, Xfce, Cinnamon and MATE all qualify, on X11 or Wayland. It is a desktop application, not a server daemon.
Libraries	The .deb declares them and `apt` installs them for you: `libgtk-3-0`, `libnotify4`, `libnss3`, `libxss1`, `libxtst6`, `libatspi2.0-0`, `libuuid1`, `libsecret-1-0`, `libasound2`, `libgbm1`, `xdg-utils`. The AppImage needs the same ones present — a minimal or server install may not have them.
Disk	About 700 MB installed, plus your own data file. The download itself is 172 MB (.deb) or 231 MB (AppImage).
Network	None required. The app runs entirely offline; the internet is only used to activate a licence once, and for the optional AI features if you turn them on.

Neither Linux file is signed. Linux has no equivalent of Authenticode or Apple notarization, so there is no publisher prompt to click through — and nothing to verify a signature against either. Your data lives in a single file under your home folder, the same as on Windows and Mac.

Seeing a “Windows protected your PC” prompt?

New installers from smaller publishers can trip Windows SmartScreen the first time. The file is safe — here's how to run it:

Click More info → Run anyway. On macOS, if you see “unidentified developer”, right-click the app → Open → Open. On Linux there is no such prompt — nothing on the platform checks a publisher signature.

We're rolling out code-signing so this prompt disappears entirely on new releases.

What are the system requirements?

Where do I enter my license key after buying?
