After you download

Installing the demo

Windows

  1. Open DIMv2Setup5.29.4.exe from your browser's downloads list (Ctrl+J) or your Downloads folder.
  2. If a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen appears, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer is not certificate-signed yet, so SmartScreen does not recognise it — the warning is about the missing certificate, not the file.
  3. The setup window asks you to accept the licence agreement and choose an install folder (the default is fine). Click Install, then Finish.
  4. Open Daily Invoice Maker from the shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.

Mac

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Daily Invoice Maker into Applications.
  2. Open it from Applications. If macOS says it cannot verify the developer, Control-click (or right-click) the app, choose Open, then Open again.
  3. Still blocked? Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the message about Daily Invoice Maker.

Which Mac? Apple menu → About This Mac: “Apple M1” to “M4” means Apple Silicon; “Intel” means Intel.

Linux

.deb (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Pop!_OS):

cd ~/Downloads
sudo apt install ./DIMv2_5.29.4_amd64.deb

AppImage (any distro):

cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x DIMv2-5.29.4.AppImage
./DIMv2-5.29.4.AppImage

Then launch it from your applications menu. Sandbox errors, requirements and removal are covered in the full Linux steps below. There is no publisher prompt to click through on Linux.

Android

Google Play opens in a new tab — install from there. Tab didn't open? Open Google Play.

The Android app is a separate purchase on Google Play; a licence bought on this site covers the desktop app on Windows, Mac and Linux. The two sync over your local Wi-Fi.

What to do first

  1. Add your business info. The first-launch setup asks for your business name and trade. Add your logo and payment details in Settings, and every invoice carries them.
  2. Create a customer. Name, phone, email and address — once, and they are on every invoice after.
  3. Make an estimate, then convert it to an invoice. Open the estimate and choose Convert to Invoice; the line items copy over. The demo includes 2 estimates, so try it on a real job.

Optional. One email now; two short ones over the next week only if you confirm. Unsubscribe with one click.

Ready to unlock? Unlimited invoices, customers and estimates, and no watermark on your PDFs. See plans →

What you are installing.

Installing on Linux

Two ways in. Pick the one that matches your distro.

Same application either way — the same invoices, the same local database file, the same offline behaviour as the Windows and Mac builds. The only difference is how it gets onto disk.

Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Pop!_OS

Installs like any other package, puts the app in your applications menu, and updates through the same file next time. Use apt rather than dpkg -i so the GTK libraries it needs are pulled in automatically.

cd ~/Downloads
sudo apt install ./DIMv2_5.29.4_amd64.deb

Then launch it from your applications menu, or run daily-invoice-maker-v2 in a terminal.

To remove it later: sudo apt remove daily-invoice-maker-v2

Fedora, openSUSE, Arch, anything else

A single self-contained file. Nothing is installed system-wide and nothing is written outside your home folder — delete the file and the app is gone.

cd ~/Downloads
chmod +x DIMv2-5.29.4.AppImage
./DIMv2-5.29.4.AppImage

If it exits with a sandbox or namespace error — common on Ubuntu 24.04 and later, which restricts unprivileged user namespaces — add --appimage-extract-and-run, or use the .deb instead.

What you need to run it

Architecture64-bit x86 (x86_64 / amd64). There is no 32-bit build and no ARM build — a Raspberry Pi or an ARM Chromebook will not run it.
DistributionAny current 64-bit desktop Linux. The binaries need glibc 2.25 or newer, which covers Debian 10, Ubuntu 18.04, and Fedora 28 onward. Built and tested on Ubuntu 26.04.
DesktopA graphical desktop with GTK 3 — GNOME, KDE, Xfce, Cinnamon and MATE all qualify, on X11 or Wayland. It is a desktop application, not a server daemon.
LibrariesThe .deb declares them and apt installs them for you: libgtk-3-0, libnotify4, libnss3, libxss1, libxtst6, libatspi2.0-0, libuuid1, libsecret-1-0, libasound2, libgbm1, xdg-utils. The AppImage needs the same ones present — a minimal or server install may not have them.
DiskAbout 700 MB installed, plus your own data file. The download itself is 172 MB (.deb) or 231 MB (AppImage).
NetworkNone required. The app runs entirely offline; the internet is only used to activate a licence once, and for the optional AI features if you turn them on.

Neither Linux file is signed. Linux has no equivalent of Authenticode or Apple notarization, so there is no publisher prompt to click through — and nothing to verify a signature against either. Your data lives in a single file under your home folder, the same as on Windows and Mac.

Seeing a “Windows protected your PC” prompt?

New installers from smaller publishers can trip Windows SmartScreen the first time. The file is safe — here's how to run it:

Click More info → Run anyway. On macOS, if you see “unidentified developer”, right-click the app → Open → Open. On Linux there is no such prompt — nothing on the platform checks a publisher signature.

We're rolling out code-signing so this prompt disappears entirely on new releases.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10 or later (64-bit), macOS 10.15 or later, a 64-bit Linux desktop with glibc 2.25 or newer (Debian 10, Ubuntu 18.04, Fedora 28 and later), or Android 8 or later for the companion app. The app runs fully offline; you only need internet to activate your license once or to use optional AI features. Full Linux details are in the install section above.

Where do I enter my license key after buying?

Your key is emailed instantly after purchase. Open the app, click Upgrade in the menu, scroll down to the Activate License Key section, and paste your key in. Your demo data stays exactly where it is. Bought through eBay or another marketplace? Get your key from the redeem page first.
