What belongs on a electrical invoice

Licence number

Electrical licence numbers are required on customer paperwork in most states, and they are the fastest way to justify why your rate is not the handyman rate.

Permit and inspection status

If work was permitted, show the permit number and whether it has passed inspection. Missing permit records surface years later at closing on a house sale.

Circuits and locations touched

Name the panel, breaker and rooms. On a callback it tells you where you were, and it proves scope if the customer later claims you worked elsewhere.

Code compliance note

A one-line statement that work meets current code and local amendments belongs on every invoice. It is cheap to write and valuable if a dispute arises.

Materials at cost or marked up

Be consistent and be visible. Electricians lose more goodwill over a surprise materials markup than over the hourly rate.

Safety issues you found and did not fix

Document hazards you flagged but were not authorised to repair. It is the clearest evidence that you identified the problem and the customer declined.

Tired of retyping this every job?

This template is fine for the occasional invoice. Once you are sending them every week, the retyping is the job — customer details, rates, invoice numbers, chasing who has paid. Daily Invoice Maker keeps your customers and rates on file, numbers invoices for you, and emails a finished PDF in a few clicks. It runs 100% offline on Windows and Mac, and it is $149.95 once — no subscription.

Questions

Is this electrical invoice template free?

Yes. There is no signup, no email capture and nothing to download — fill it in on this page and print or save it as a PDF, as often as you like.

Is my customer's information stored anywhere?

No. Everything stays in your browser tab and is never sent to a server. Print or save the PDF before you close the tab, because nothing persists.

Does an electrical invoice need a licence number?

In most states electrical licence numbers must appear on customer-facing documents. Check your state licensing board and put yours under the business name or in the notes.

Should I list the permit number?

If the work was permitted, yes. It creates a record the homeowner can produce at sale or insurance time, and it protects you if the permit is later questioned.

Is there something better for regular invoicing?

A template is fine occasionally. If you invoice weekly, Daily Invoice Maker stores your customers, rates and licence details, numbers invoices automatically, works fully offline and is $149.95 once.
